Director / Agency
Jeff specialises in acquiring shops for national multiple retailers; for more than 10 years he has been instrumental in expanding Footasylum Plc’s portfolio from only a handful of shops to national representation in over 65 stores nationwide both in regional shopping centres such as Bluewater, Lakeside, Meadowhall, Metrocentre, Trafford and Westfield Stratford and in prime high street positions including their flagship store on Oxford Street. He is also retained by Greggs Plc on all acquisitions throughout the Yorkshire region, and by Yorkshire Linen Company on acquisitions throughout the UK.
With over 35 years’ experience, he is well versed in all areas of retail property including shopping centre leasing, disposals on both the high street and out of town, and he also provides advice to developers and landlords in relation to new commercial developments.
Director / Professional
Before joining Lawson Hubbard Lowe, Paul worked as an in-house surveyor for a PLC Property company with a diverse retail property portfolio, and then for a multiple high street retailer with branches nationwide. He has therefore built up a wealth of experience in all aspects of commercial property. Since moving from the client side to agency in 1995, he has concentrated mainly on rent reviews, lease renewals and lease re-gears and is retained by Greggs, Footasylum and Yorkshire Linen in this capacity. He also undertakes reviews and renewals for other company clients such as Atmore, DeMontfort, Jon Barrie Menswear and Moda, and has recently worked with Oxfam, William Hill, and the Yorkshire Trading Company.
Paul is a member of the RICS Dispute Resolution Service panel and regularly receives appointments to act as both Independent Expert and Arbitrator in rent review or Lease Renewal disputes.
Consultant / Agency
Powell has been active in the Leeds and Northern property markets since 1980, although in more recent times he has advised a number of retailers and restaurateurs in a steady expansion programme on a national basis; such advise ranges from acquisitions to disposals; from in-town to out of-town, from Aberdeen to Exeter and from Norwich to Belfast.
He currently acts for a number of Art Galleries including Whitewall, Atelier and Clarendon Fine Art, retailers such as Moda in Pelle, Daniel Footwear, Larizia and Berry’s Jewellers together with hi-tech retailers and restaurateurs including Filmore and Union and Red Bean Coffee. Powell has also advised many Landlords, Developers and Property owners on numerous Shopping Centres and important strategic property holdings.
